5T and New Odisha President V.K.Pandian will not contest the elections. BJD vice-president and MLA Debi Prasad Mishra said this at a press conference held after the party executive meeting on Friday. BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik chaired the meeting. He said Pandian left his job for public service and would continue to do so. Giving details of the decisions taken at the meeting, Mishra said the state executive of the BJD which met on Friday passed 11 political and 16 votes of thanks. BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik chaired the meeting. The Biju Janata Dal has expressed its gratitude to the people of Odisha for its successive victories in various elections since 2000. The party congratulated the Chief Minister for this achievement in the executive committee.
The Chief Minister was thanked for the promotion of Jagannath culture and consciousness as well as the renovation of various temples in the state along with the Sri Jagannath Parikrama Project. Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana has been a lifeline for the people. The resolution was passed thanking Naveen Patnaik for the rapid transformation of social security and food.
BJD chief Naveen Patnaik speaks on the opposition:
- Given the upcoming elections, it has been decided to postpone the BJD organisational elections for a year. Internet media will be weaponized to counter the opposition.
- Party president Naveen Patnaik has given an order in this regard. BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik has said that the opposition has no issue. The opposition is spreading lies because they have no issue.
- The executive has decided to re-raise the old issues of the state. At the executive meeting, the party decided to continue its efforts for special category status.
- The party regretted the Centre’s silence on Mahanadi and Polavaram issues. Devi Mishra said that efforts will be made to meet the demands in coal royalty, cess.
