Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra: Rahul said –  the most corrupt government in the country is Assam, Himanta hits back: Gandhi family is the most corrupt

Soon after the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra entered Assam from Nagaland, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday claimed that the country’s most corrupt government and most corrupt CM are working in the state. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hit back, saying the Gandhi family was the most corrupt in the country. Not only this, he said that this is not Rahul’s Nyay Yatra but ‘Miya Yatra’.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday hit out at the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government, claiming that the “most corrupt government”  in India is probably in Assam.   Soon after the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra entered Assam from Nagaland, Gandhi lashed out at the ruling  BJP and RSS.  Lashing out at the  BJP  and the RSS, Rahul Gandhi said they were “spreading hatred and looting public money”. ’ In his address, Rahul once again raised the issue of Manipur and said that there is a civil war-like situation there. 

Assam has the most corrupt government: Rahul Gandhi

The Congress’ Nyay Yatra from Halovating in Sivasagar district entered Assam on Thursday. “Perhaps,  the most corrupt government in India is in Assam,” Rahul Gandhi said while addressing party workers there. You know what’s happening here. We will raise the issues of Assam during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

On Thursday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, “Perhaps, the most corrupt government in India is in Assam. You know what’s happening here. We will raise the issues of Assam during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. ” In the afternoon, Gandhi addressed a street corner meeting at Debererapar in Nakachari in Jorhat district and alleged that the BJP-led government was doing several injustices against tribals, tea garden workers, and other indigenous people of Assam. “Corruption is rampant in Assam.  We all know that the most corrupt Chief Minister in India is probably the Chief Minister of Assam. ”

In his third address in Jorhat city, Gandhi alleged that the entire family of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was involved in corruption. He said, “His children, himself and his wife — all are involved in some kind of corruption. They think money can buy the people of Assam because they can be bought. But the Assamese cannot be bought and no one can put a price on them. ” After this rhetoric, it seems that the war of words between the two political leaders in Assam has sparked a new rift between the two parties.

‘Will raise issues of Assam during visit’

“The most corrupt government in India probably is in Assam,” Gandhi said while addressing party workers at Halowating in Sivasagar district. We will raise the issues of Assam during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Speaking on Manipur, Gandhi said there is a civil war-like situation in the state.     The clashes first broke out on May 3 last year after a ‘tribal solidarity march’  was organized in the hill districts to protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe  (ST)  status.  The Meitei people constitute around 53 percent of Manipur’s population and they mostly live in the Imphal Valley,  while the tribals-Naga and Kuki communities constitute  40 percent of the population and live in the hill districts.

What did Rahul Gandhi say about Manipur?

On Manipur, Gandhi said the hill state is facing a civil war-like situation and ethnic violence has been going on since May 3 last year. The state has been divided and the Prime Minister has not visited the state even once. In Nagaland, an accord to resolve the Naga political issue was signed nine years ago but the matter remains unchanged. On the BJP’s insistence that such marches will not benefit the Congress, Rahul said last year’s Bharat Jodo Yatra has changed the political narrative of the country.

He said the BJP and RSS were spreading hatred and making one community fight against another. Their only work is to loot public money and exploit the country. He also alleged that all BJP-ruled states are facing economic, social, and political injustice and all these issues will be raised during the Nyay Yatra. The aim of this yatra is not only to unite every religion and caste in India but also to give justice.

Jairam Ramesh leveled several allegations against BJP

Referring to medieval saint Srimanta Sankardev, the Congress MP said that this Nyay Yatra is a journey of Sankardev’s ideology. Sankardeva was an Assamese saint-scholar, socio-religious reformer,  poet, and a great figure in the cultural and religious history of the  15th-16th  centuries in Assam. Later, the yatra reached Mariani town in Jorhat. Seeing Rahul, hundreds of rural women, who had gathered to collect forms for a new government scheme, left their queues and reached him and gave him a warm welcome. Meanwhile, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh alleged that the ruling BJP government in Assam was trying to make the Bharat Jodo Nyay yatra a flop show and creating hurdles in many ways.

Yatra to continue in Assam till January  25

Rahul Gandhi said, “The state is divided and the Prime Minister has not even visited Manipur. In Nagaland, an agreement was signed nine years back and now people are asking what has happened to it. ’   Countering the BJP’s statement that such visits will not benefit the Congress, Gandhi said last year’s Bharat Jodo Yatra has changed the “political discourse” of the country.  The  6,713-km yatra led by Rahul Gandhi started from Manipur on January  14 and will culminate in Mumbai on March  20. In Assam, the yatra will continue till January 25. The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will cover a total of 110  districts in  15  states.

Sarma challenges Rahul Gandhi

During the interaction with the media on Thursday, the Chief Minister of Assam said, “We have said not to go from inside Guwahati city. There is a medical college and a nursing home. Whatever alternative route is sought will be allowed, but if insistence is made to go from inside the city, we will not arrange for police. I will register a case and arrest them after the elections. I won’t do anything now. ” The Assam Chief Minister described Rahul Gandhi’s Nyay Yatra as Mian Yatra. Himanta Biswa Sarma further said, “This is not a Nyay Yatra but a Mian Yatra. Wherever there are Muslims, they are visiting them. “

Hitting back at Rahul Gandhi’s statement, Sarma said, “According to me, the most corrupt family in the country is the Gandhi family. From Bofors in the country to the escape of the accused in the Bhopal gas tragedy. The most corrupt family is the Gandhi family. It is not only corrupt but also duplicates. His family name is not Gandhi. Roaming around with his duplicate name. “

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “There has been so much development under the BJP’s ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ that you see that the Congress will be wiped out in Assam. Earlier both Muslim men and women used to come to Congress rallies, but this time both mothers and sisters did not come. Gradually the male people will also stop going. So much progress has been made in Assam that Muslim women and men will stop going to Congress rallies.”

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has reacted to the registration of the FIR. He claimed that no rules were violated during the yatra. Jairam Ramesh targeted the BJP and said “The Assam CM is making all efforts to prevent people from joining the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. No one can stop this journey. We are in it for the next 7 days in Assam. Let them arrest us, we accept the challenge. ’

“We will not be afraid” Speaking to the media, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi said that this journey of Congress will continue.  He said that, “The people are with us. We will not be scared of anyone or any FIR. In a democracy, no government can stop us. We will go wherever people call us. This is a democratic country, everyone is allowed to go everywhere.”

FIR on Congress  ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,’  accused of changing route

The yatra was allowed to be taken through KB Road but instead, it was diverted, creating chaos in the area, a police official said. He said that due to the sudden crowd, some people also fell and there was a stampede-like situation. Taking suo motu cognizance of the incident, he said an FIR has been registered at Jorhat Sadar police station against the yatra and its main organizer.

Let’s say that another route was allowed for the journey. But instead, the journey was taken the other way.  A case has been registered against  Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra and its main organiser K B Byju for the same offence.

Former Youth Congress president Angkita seeks justice from Rahul Gandhi

Former Youth Congress leader Angkita Dutta on Thursday (January 18) demanded justice from Rahul Gandhi. Angkita has accused Youth Congress leader Srinivas Beevi of sexual harassment. They say that they have not yet got justice in this case. Now they expect Rahul Gandhi to get them justice. Angkita is staging a sit-in protest in Amguri town of Assam’s Sivasagar district to press for her demand.

In fact, Congress’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ has entered Assam on Thursday.  In such a situation, Angkita says that now with this justice journey, she should also get justice. The Congress has already expelled Angkita from the party. The former Congress leader said, “I was expelled from the party because I sought justice against a harasser. Now that Rahul ji has come to Assam, I am confident that he will give justice to me and the women who participated in the Nyay Yatra.”

The former Congress leader said, “I had sought justice from the Congress. However, I was expelled from the party. I have been in exile for the last 10  months, but I worked in the Sivasagar district to strengthen the Congress party. The locals living here did not know about Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra and I went to the families to tell them about the program,”

She said, “I have been working for the Congress for the last  10  months despite not being in the party. People have come with me and Rahul Gandhi’s yatra will pass through Amguri, I hope he will give me justice. My 10-month exile will also end today.”

Who is Angkita Dutta?

Angkita is the daughter of Anjan Dutta, a minister in the Congress government in Assam. Srinivas, who is also the Youth Congress president, was expelled from the party last year after she leveled allegations of sexual harassment against her. She was then the president of the Assam Youth Congress. She has also filed a police case against Srinivas. Apart from this, the matter is also being heard in the Supreme Court. Angkita has also contested the assembly elections twice on a Congress ticket.
