Clash in Assam over Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Several Congress leaders injured in lathi charge; Case against Rahul Gandhi

There was a ruckus on Tuesday during the ongoing Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra of the Congress in Assam.  When more than  5000  Congress workers were stopped from entering Guwahati city, they created a ruckus and tried to break the barricades. After this, the police lathi charged, in which many Congress leaders were injured. A case has also been registered against many people including Rahul Gandhi for trying to enter without permission and creating chaos. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma spoke to the DGP and ordered him to file a case.

This whole ruckus happened When around 5000  workers who wanted to go to Guwahati city were stopped by the police. These people were stopped just before entering the city. A large number of police forces have been deployed to stop them. The Congress said that Assam State President Bhupen Kumar Bora and  Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Debabrata Saikia were also injured in the police lathi charge.

The police administration says that this action was taken when Congress workers started removing the barricades put up to prevent entry into Guwahati city. Earlier, the Himanta Biswa Sarma government had denied permission to take out the Congress yatra from the main road of Guwahati. The administration said that Tuesday would be a working day in Guwahati and if the yatra was allowed to leave, then the entire city would be jammed.

CM Himanta gave a warning

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier said that the yatra would not be allowed to enter the city to avoid congestion on roads. Meanwhile, during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, a huge crowd gathered at Guwahati Chowk in Khanapara and Rahul Gandhi was welcomed with drums and drums. “We have won by breaking the barricades,” Congress state unit in-charge Jitendra Singh said.

The Assam government had said that the Congress should take the national highway instead of taking its journey to the main road of Guwahati. Congress workers were asked to go to National Highway  27, which is like a ring road to Guwahati. The Congress people involved in the march said that the administration had not permitted them to enter Guwahati on absurd grounds.

In this way, on Tuesday, once again there was a stalemate between the Congress and the BJP over the yatra. Earlier on Monday, the conflict started when Rahul Gandhi was stopped from giving entry to a temple. After this, all the leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Jairam Ramesh sat on the road and started singing Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram.

Congress says the Himanta Biswas government is scared

The Congress says that the Himanta Biswa Sarma government is scared of Rahul Gandhi’s visit and wants to stop it. Congress Told “Since we entered into Assam, the country’s most corrupt CM has been continuously attacking our convoy. Goons are also being used for this. ‘ Rahul Gandhi wanted to visit the temple of Vaishnava saint Srimanta Sankardev, who has great recognition in Assam. But Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that Rahul Gandhi should not visit the temple before the ongoing Pran Pratishtha event in Ayodhya.

controversy Started after Rahul Gandhi was denied entry to the temple

Expressing displeasure over being stopped from entering the temple in Assam’s Nagaon, Gandhi asked the authorities whether it is now going to be decided by PM Modi who would go to the temple.  “We don’t want to create any problem,  just offer prayers at the temple,”  he added. Authorities allowed local MP and MLA to visit the Sankardev temple in Assam’s Nagaon without Rahul Gandhi.

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh today said, “Rahul Gandhi wanted to go there. We have been trying since January 11 and two of our MLAs had met the management for this.  We had said we would come there at 7 am on January 22. We were told we would be welcomed. But yesterday,  we were suddenly told that we cannot come there before 3 pm.”

“It is the pressure of the state government. We will try to go there but it is very difficult to go there after 3 pm. Because we have to travel extra distance.”

CM Assam had said that if Rahul Gandhi goes to Batadrava temple before consecration in Ram Mandir, then the right signal will not go.  This will create an atmosphere of competition between the Ram temple and the Batadrava temple. This will not be good for Assam. Not only this, the temple committee had also made it clear to the Congress that entry would not be given before 3 pm. After this, Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders were stopped on the way. Then all the leaders sat on the road and started chanting bhajans. After this, talking to the media, Rahul Gandhi said that he believes in the philosophy of Shankar Dev.

Regarding the FIR, Rahul Gandhi said, “What the CM of Assam is doing is benefiting the yatra. We are being promoted. This is how CM and Amit Shah are helping us. These are attempts to intimidate, but we are not afraid. People are saying that JP Nadda can go to Guwahati, why can’t Rahul Gandhi? Himanta is the most corrupt CM in the country. There is a lot of unemployment here.”

‘Our message is reaching people’- Rahul

The Congress MP further said, “Assam CM and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are helping us by doing the publicity we may not have received. Now, the main issue in Assam is Yatra. This is their intimidation tactic. Our message of justice is reaching people. Their strategy is to stop going to the temple and the padayatra. People are asking them that the padayatra of JP Nadda and Bajrang Dal go but we are stopped. It is clear that the Congress is fighting as the opposition, our other allies are fighting.”

The administration says that travel is not allowed in the city, While Rahul Gandhi’s yatra was moving towards the inside of the city. This was the reason that later the police put up barricades and Congress workers walking with Rahul Gandhi’s bus clashed with the police. The Chief Minister has instructed the Director General of Police to file an FIR against Rahul Gandhi for instigating the mob.

Assam university professors will not be able to criticise the government,  law to be made in Assam

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said they are bringing a law against university professors who criticise the government. “We pay them salaries, they have to work under the code of conduct. They cannot use abusive words against the government whenever they want. “

Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Sunday, Sarma said the university wants to bring professors under the ambit of civil service rules. “We are soon going to table a bill in the Assam Assembly to this effect,” he said. ”

The chief minister said the University Grants Commission (UGC) appoints professors but their salaries are paid by the state government. However, some professors appear on TV channels more than in their classes.

“The UGC gives them time for evening studies so that they can teach their students in a better way, but many of them are busy giving opinions against the government. If we have to pay their salaries, we will expect some discipline. “

The Chief Minister said that they plan to solve this matter in a year. As long as I am the chief minister, I will not allow it. We will bring a Bill and regulate it by law.  Sarma said professors or even vice-chancellors who want to criticise the government and the chief minister are free to resign from their posts.

“It is not part of Assam’s culture. We are a peaceful state. Such Naxalite tactics are completely contrary to our culture. Due to your irresponsible conduct and violation of guidelines, there is now a huge jam on the roads of Guwahati.

Sarma said evidence is coming out as to how Rahul Gandhi and Congress leader Jitendra Singh instigated the mob to kill Assam Police personnel. Our soldiers are servants of the people, not of any royal family. Rest assured, the arms of the law are very long, they will reach you.

Rahul Gandhi gave the answer

Rahul Gandhi said during the press conference on the question of stopping the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Assam and the order to file a case that it is benefiting us. He said, “The yatra is benefiting from what the Assam CM is doing. We are getting the publicity that we don’t get. The chief minister of Assam and perhaps the home minister behind him Amit Shah is helping us in that. Yatra has become the main issue in Assam today. ’’

He said, “The idea behind this journey is justice. It has five pillars of justice – youth justice, participation, women’s justice, farmers’ justice and justice for labour.  These five pillars will give strength to the country.  Congress will put them before the public in the next one-and-a-half months,” he said.
