After the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the Congress party is now going to take out Bharat Nyay Yatra under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi. The yatra will be undertaken from Manipur to Mumbai from January 14 to March 20.
It was informed by the Congress that in this yatra, Rahul Gandhi will interact with youth, women and marginalized people like the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The Congress party said the Bharat Nyay Yatra will cover a distance of 6,200 kilometres. It will pass through the states of Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat and finally Maharashtra. The Bharat Nyay Yatra will cover 14 states and 85 districts.

The journey will cover a distance of 6,200 kilometers: Speaking at a press conference in Delhi, organising secretary KC Venugopal said, Yatra will start from Manipur to Mumbai from January 14 to March 20. Now Rahul Gandhi is travelling with the great experience of the first Bharat Jodo Yatra. He will travel with youth, women and marginalised people. The yatra will cover a distance of 6,200 kilometres. This time the yatra will be done by bus and leaders are expected to walk in some parts of the route.”
He also added “On December 21, Congress workers were of the opinion that Rahul Gandhi should undertake a journey from East to West. Rahul Gandhi also agreed to fulfil the wishes of the CWC.”
Kharge to flag off yatra: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharage will flag off the yatra which will pass through 14 states and 85 districts. The visit comes at a time when the campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections is also expected to gain momentum. Some of the states through which the yatra is expected to pass are currently ruled by parties that are part of the Bharat Alliance and it remains to be seen if these parties join the Congress Yatra.
Bharat Jodo Yatra passed through 12 states: Earlier, the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which started on 7th September 2022 in Kanyakumari under the leadership of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, ended in Srinagar on 30th January 2023 after covering 3,970 km, 12 states and two union territories and running for more than 130 days.
In the first leg of the journey, Gandhiji walked about 4,000 km from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. The impact of Rahul Gandhi’s visit was seen during the elections in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, as the Congress registered a sharp increase in the strike rate and vote share. The yatra travelled 511 km in 22 days between Gundlupet constituency and Raichur rural constituency in Karnataka.
At Final: The announcement of the Bharat Nyay Yatra marks a significant political move by the Congress party, building on the success of the earlier Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi. This upcoming journey, covering a substantial distance of 6,200 kilometers across 14 states and 85 districts, is scheduled to take place from January 14 to March 20. Rahul Gandhi, drawing from his experiences in the previous yatra, plans to engage with the youth, women, and marginalized communities, echoing the inclusive approach seen in the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
The decision to undertake the yatra by bus, with leaders walking in certain segments, reflects a thoughtful strategy to connect with people from diverse backgrounds. The involvement of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in flagging off the yatra adds a significant political dimension to the event, especially considering its alignment with the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The earlier Bharat Jodo Yatra, spanning 12 states and two union territories, demonstrated its impact during subsequent elections in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh. The Congress party experienced an increase in strike rate and vote share, indicating the potential influence of such mass outreach programs. As the Bharat Nyay Yatra unfolds, its success may not only shape the political narrative but also influence alliances in the states it traverses, making it a crucial element in the lead-up to the 2024 elections.
