The Congress has released two lists of 61 candidates for the Rajasthan Assembly elections. In this way, the Congress has so far fielded candidates in 156 seats out of the total 200.

The Congress on Tuesday released its first list of 61 candidates for the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly elections. Within three-and-a-half hours, the party released two lists. In the fourth list released at around 7.30 pm on Tuesday, the names of 56 candidates, and in the fifth list released at 11.45 pm, the names of five candidates are included. With this, the party has announced the names of 156 candidates. Interestingly, the party has changed candidates in 35 of the total 61 seats in the fourth and fifth lists. Among them, senior MLA Bharat Singh Kundanpur, minister Bharosi Lal Jatav, MLAs Khiladi Lal Bairwa, Babu Lal Bairwa, and Johri Lal Meena have been denied tickets from Sangod. Most of the candidates have been changed in the same seats where the Congress lost in the last election. In the last elections, these tickets were distributed from Sachin Pilot’s quota. That is, this time most of the tickets were changed, which can be considered as Sachin Pilot camp. Of the 22 candidates who have been repeated, eight are Congress MLAs, two Independents, and two BSP MLAs. Apart from these, 10 defeated candidates have also been given tickets.

Know why the tickets of MLAs were cut?
  • Senior Congress MLA from Sangod, Bharatsinh Kundanpur, was continuously opposing Gehlot. He openly accused Minister Pramod Jain Bhaya, a minister close to Gehlot, of corruption.
  • Johri Lal Meena was a Congress MLA from Rajgarh-Laxmangarh seat, but his son was accused of rape.
  • Khiladi Lal Bairwa is an MLA from Basedi. Earlier, Gehlot was in the camp, later he changed sides and went to the pilot camp. They were openly opposing Gehlot.
  • Babu Lal Bairwa is a Congress MLA from Kathua. His son has been accused several times of open corruption in the area.
  • Bharosi Lal Jatav is a Congress MLA from Hindon, but his condition was described as very bad in the survey.

Two BJP leaders get tickets:

In the fourth list, the Congress has given tickets to former BJP minister Surendra Goyal from Jaitaran, and former BJP MLA Vikas Chaudhary from Kishangarh. Apart from this, Independent MLA Mahadev Singh Khandela has been made a candidate from Khandela and Kanti Meena from Thanagazi. Deepchand Khairia and Jogendra Awana, who joined the Congress from the BSP, have also been given tickets by the Congress.
