PM Modi made a big bet on petrol before voting in Rajasthan, ‘compulsion’ to clean up Gehlot’s explanation
Rajasthan Elections: Campaigning for assembly elections in Rajasthan has now reached the final phase. In such a situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a big bet by raising the issue of expensive petrol and diesel in Rajasthan.
In Rajasthan, campaigning for the assembly elections has now reached the final stage. In such a situation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a big bet by raising the issue of expensive petrol in Rajasthan. Pm Modi compared the price of petrol in Rajasthan with BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and announced that it will be reviewed as soon as the BJP government is formed. After PM Modi raised this issue affecting every person, now the state’s Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has given a clarification. Gehlot said he was aware of this, but there was a revenue compulsion behind it. He also accused the central government of reducing its share in taxes.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Ashok Gehlot accused the central government of reducing the share of states in basic excise on expensive petrol and diesel in the state. “They are speaking untruth. I would like to tell you the reality. The Government of India is playing such a big game. It is a matter of understanding that basic excise duty is in crores, billions. Its rule remains, it is divided among all the states. They almost eliminated it. New excise duty, additional excise duty and cess increased. It is not divided into states. He is filling the coffers of the Centre, ruling with it. They are deceiving the people. States have their own compulsions. Which state wouldn’t want me to have at least excise duty? Who doesn’t want to give relief to the public? ‘
Ashok Gehlot said that petrol is more expensive in Madhya Pradesh than Rajasthan, but it is not being compared from there, compared with Punjab and Haryana, while the situation is different there. “We know that it is cheaper in the border area than it is in Ganganagar. We realize, not today, but for 25 years. Whether it was the BJP government or the Congress government, no one could do any work. We have compulsions, otherwise we will not have revenue. The lie they are saying is very wrong. Gehlot said that the central government should run the country by reducing excise duty. International prices had increased during the UPA government, but after their government came to power, it came down so much. If they wanted, they could bring it for 40-50 rupees.
PM Modi said that the price of petrol in Rajasthan is Rs 109 per liter. But in neighbouring Haryana, it costs Rs 96-97. “The Rs 10-12 more you are giving, in whose coffers is it going? Your bus fare is expensive, it is difficult to ride a scooter, bike. This is happening because of the loot of The Congress. The BJP government at the Centre made petrol cheaper for the entire country. In the states where there is a BJP government, double benefits were given to the people. The corrupt Governments of Congress did not give you this benefit, looted it. As soon as the BJP government comes to power after December 3, the price of petrol in Rajasthan will be reviewed like other states. “In UP, petrol is around Rs 97, in Gujarat it is around Rs 97, in Haryana it is Rs 97 per litre. But the Rajasthan government is charging Rs 109. They are charging Rs 12-13 per liter.
