“I wanted to humbly say that I would rather die than go to Delhi and ask for something for myself,” Chouhan
In response to a question from journalists about his visit to Delhi, Chowhan replied, “I wanted to humbly say that I would rather die than go to Delhi and ask for something for myself,” Last week, amid speculation about the next chief minister, Chouhan had said he would not go to Delhi. He had also claimed that he had never been in the race for the top post in the state.
Madhya Pradesh’s Former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in his farewell speech from CM House on Tuesday that “he would rather die than ask for something for himself from his party.” The four-time Chief Minister said that he would complete whatever work Bharatiya Janata Party gave him. Mohan Yadav will replace him today following the party’s spectacular victory in last month’s assembly polls. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister-designate Mohan Yadav and Deputy Chief Minister-designate Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Deora will take oath on December 13.
“I wanted to humbly say that I would rather die than go (to Delhi) and ask for something for myself,” Chouhan said in response to a question from journalists about his visit to Delhi. Last week, amid speculation about the next chief minister, Chouhan had said he would not go to Delhi. He had also claimed that he had never been in the race for the top post in the state.
On Tuesday Shivraj said, “When a person has autism, he thinks only about himself. But BJP is a mission, there is some work for every worker. Whatever work is assigned to me, I will do. ” Expressing satisfaction over his tenure in power, Chouhan further said that he is confident that the new BJP government under the leadership of Mohan Yadav will complete the ongoing works at a fast pace.
Chowhan added more, “I will always support him (Mohan Yadav). He said that due to the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the hard work of the party workers, as well as the welfare schemes of the state government and the Centre, especially the Ladli Behna Yojana, the BJP formed a majority government in Madhya Pradesh.
The ‘Ladli Behna’ scheme is a flagship scheme of the Chouhan government under which women from economically weaker sections are given Rs 1,250 per month. Citing the improved state of roads, power supply, and agricultural development, among other things, he said the state has achieved all-round development during the BJP rule.
Chouhan said women’s empowerment and the welfare of farmers was never a means for him to get votes. Meanwhile, a video surfaced on social media showing a group of women going to the chief minister’s residence on Tuesday morning and crying in the presence of Chouhan.
