It is learned that investigators are using geo-surveillance equipment to locate any buried or hidden cash or valuables at the ancestral home of Dheeraj Prasad Sahu in Lohardaga.
In a stunning turn of events, tax raids on Congress MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu’s residence and associated companies have extended into the eighth consecutive day, revealing a labyrinth of financial dealings and connections that span multiple states. The investigation has taken a high-tech turn with the use of geo-surveillance tools, as authorities seek to unearth hidden cash and valuables.
Commencing on December 6, the raids have not only focused on Sahu’s Ranchi residence but have also targeted various premises linked to his company, Baldev Sahu & Sons, which reportedly operates in the liquor manufacturing sector. Geo-surveillance teams are currently deployed at Sahu’s ancestral home in the Lohardaga district of Jharkhand, as well as his Ranchi residence, intensifying the scrutiny on the Congress MP.
Tax raids continued for the eighth consecutive day at the residence of Congress MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu and the premises of companies linked to him. It has been learned that investigators are also using geo-surveillance tools to find any buried cash or valuables. According to sources in the Income Tax Department, one team with geo-surveillance equipment is at Sahu’s ancestral home in Lohardaga district of Jharkhand, while the other team is at his Ranchi residence.
One of the key areas under investigation is the alleged involvement of Sahu’s company in the liquor industry. Reports indicate that the raids have extended beyond Jharkhand to include Odisha, where investigators have zeroed in on liquor manufacturing units associated with Baldev Sahu & Sons. Specifically, they have targeted units in western Odisha, uncovering a web of influence that extends into the heart of the state’s liquor industry.
The use of geo-surveillance tools adds a futuristic dimension to the investigation, highlighting the evolving techniques employed by authorities to combat financial malfeasance. These tools are instrumental in identifying hidden assets, possibly buried cash or valuables, as investigators leave no stone unturned in their quest for evidence.
Cash and valuables worth over Rs 300 crore have reportedly been recovered so far, adding that more recoveries could follow in Lohardaga. According to sources in Odisha’s excise department, Baldev Sahu & Sons is a major manufacturer of country liquor in western Odisha, controlling 46 of the 64 manufacturing units in just one district i.e. Balangir.
