‘There is no alternative to PM Narendra Modi in the country at the moment’ Ajit Pawar said about the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, while answering the questions of the media, said, “There is currently no alternative to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the country. Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar on Monday claimed that there is no alternative to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the country at the moment. Pawar was questioned by reporters on the plans of opposition parties to challenge Modi’s leadership ahead of next year’s Lok Sabha elections in 2024. Replying to this, he said,  “There is no alternative to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the country right now. Such a decision is taken not based on just one or two things but based on different aspects.”

Ajit Pawar told media persons, “You people spread a lot of propaganda.” Pawar said “But questions like who will protect the interests of the country, in whose hands will the country be safer and stronger and who has improved the country’s image in the international arena matter a lot”. Also added, “We have also seen the results  (of the recent assembly polls)  in three states – Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Predicting before the election does not mean that the results will be the same. The BJP won all the three states.”

Asked about the rallies taken out by opposition parties in Pune district against the state government, Ajit Pawar said a Lok Sabha member of the Nationalist Congress Party  (NCP) had expressed his desire to step down as a member of the lower house of Parliament. He categorically referred to Amol Kolhe, a Lok Sabha member from Shirur constituency who supports the Sharad Pawar-led NCP  camp, saying, “When we gave him the ticket in  2019, he was popular because  he had played the role of Sambhaji Maharaj (in a TV serial) and he was a good orator.”

Ajit Pawar, who joined the Eknath Shinde-led state government along with eight other NCP  leaders in July this year, said, “I have decided on his option (in the  2024 Lok Sabha election) and I can now tell you that my candidate will win the seat.”
