In the assembly elections in Rajasthan this time, on the one hand, the Congress is trying to change the custom, on the other hand, the rebels seem to be increasing its challenges. Jaipur: Disgruntled Congress leaders and their supporters, who were denied tickets in Rajasthan, staged protests at several places on Wednesday. Party workers protested by burning tires and effigies. The workers have written letters to the party’s high command. The supporters of the rebels staged a sit-in protest on Wednesday. Some leaders have also resigned from their posts.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Bairwa said, “I have been punished for speaking the truth and standing with the party leadership. I will do whatever the supporters say about contesting the elections. Bairwa is a supporter of former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot. In Jaipur, supporters of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Minister Mahesh Joshi staged a protest outside the state Congress office demanding that he be made a candidate for the Hawamahal seat. The party has yet to give a ticket to Joshi and has not declared any candidate from Hawamahal.
The party high command had issued show-cause notices to Joshi and Urban Development Minister Shanti Dhariwal for holding a parallel meeting of MLAs against the legislature party meeting on September 25, 2022. Sangod MLA Bharat Singh Kundanpur wrote a letter to state party in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, alleging that he was denied a ticket as part of a conspiracy and that an outsider was made a candidate. Kundanpur has been vocal against the Gehlot government in the past as well.
Another MLA from Rajgarh-Laxmangarh, Johri Lal Meena, sat on a sit-in outside the residence of senior Congress leader Bhanwar Jitendra Singh. He claimed that despite topping the survey, the ticket was cut and given to an outsider. A case of rape has been registered against Johri Lal and his son.
The Congress has expressed confidence in Amin Khan, the sitting MLA from Shiv’s seat in Barmer. However, this time Khan is facing huge opposition. Barmer district Congress president Fateh Khan, who is vying for a ticket, staged a protest in Barmer along with his supporters. The protesters criticized the party’s high command while raising anti-Congress slogans. They also burnt effigies of Congress leaders.
Fateh Khan said that bypassing all surveys, criteria, and equations, the Congress high command has re-nominated the sitting MLA. This is not fair. He said he would take a decision only after discussing it with his supporters. Gehlot’s close aide Sunil Parihar has also hinted at rebelling if he is given a ticket to former MP Manvendra Singh from Siwana seat. Similarly, protests were held in Ganganagar, Churu, Ajmer and Bikaner, Alwar by dissident leaders and their supporters.

In Sriganganagar, supporters of Independent MLA Rajkumar Gaur have also objected to the Congress giving a party ticket to Ankur Miglani.
