Ram Mandir News Politics over the Ram temple is at its peak.  After the Congress rejected the invitation for the consecration ceremony, now the Congress has raised questions on the program itself. The political turmoil intensified after Congress leaders turned down the invitation for the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla’s Vigraha in Ayodhya. Questions asked by Congress to BJP

Questioning the timing of the consecration ceremony, Congress leader Pawan Khera asked the BJP whether the event would be held under the guidance of Shankaracharyas of the four Peeths or not. Khera said there is a system to perform consecration. If the event is religious, is it being held under the guidance of the Shankaracharyas of the four Peeths?

Senior Congress leader TS Singh Deo had also questioned the timing of the ‘Pran Patishtha‘  ceremony at the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya,  closer to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He alleged that the event was not “purely religious” and had “different political connotations“.

The Congress leader said that the four Shankaracharyas have clearly said that there can be no consecration of an incomplete temple. He said that if this event is not religious then it is political. “It is not acceptable that people of a political party sit as middlemen between me and my God.

Pawan Khera targets BJP

Earlier on Thursday, the BJP had cited several occasions ranging from Somnath to the myth of Lord Ram, saying that the Congress was in line with its old tendency to reject invitations. Addressing a press conference at the Congress headquarters, the party’s media and publicity department head Pawan Khera alleged that the consecration ceremony was not being held keeping in mind the religious procedures.

He also said that religion is a personal matter and anyone is free to visit Ayodhya for darshan. But the invitation which was declined was meant for the January 22  event which is being “largely politicized“.  

Kharge asked “Is it being organized keeping in mind the religious procedures on the advice of the Shankaracharyas? All the four Shankaracharyas have said that Pran Pratistha cannot be consecrated in an  “unfinished temple”. “Why would I tolerate workers of a political party being middlemen between me and God?

He said “The first question is does one go to a temple of God after getting an invitation? Whether it is a temple, church, or mosque, will we wait for the invitation? Who will decide on which date and which class of people will go? Will this be decided by a political party?

Khera claimed that the religious leaders wanted to hold the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony on Ram Navami. Congress internet media department head Supriya Shrinate, who was also present at the press conference, said the BJP has divided people based on caste, religion, and language. But now she is trying to divide Sanatan Dharma. “The Congress considers individual faith supreme. Shrinate said that Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee leaders have already decided that they will go to Ayodhya on January 15 for darshan.

Khera alleged that the BJP’s IT cell has launched a campaign against the Shankaracharya. “We want to know how the date was decided. The date has not been chosen. The date has been decided after seeing the election. For the political spectacle of one man, we… You can’t allow (anyone) to play with your faith and God.”

Earlier, the Congress also questioned the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla. Party leader Pawan Khera said that the consecration should be a religious event, but it is being made political.

The Congress leader further said that the life of an incomplete temple cannot be consecrated. Khera said that the four Shankaracharyas have clearly stated that the incomplete temple cannot be consecrated.

Kharge said that devotees can go to Ayodhya someday

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday said anyone who has faith in Lord Ram can visit Ayodhya on any day. He said the BJP was attacking his party over its decision to decline the invitation for the January 22 consecration ceremony as part of a conspiracy.

Kharge said the Congress has never insulted any religion or guru will not fall for the BJP’s distraction tactics and will continue to raise issues concerning people like price rise and unemployment. “As far as attending the function is concerned, people who have faith can go tomorrow or the day after. I have made it clear on January 6 itself,” he said. It is not right to attack us. This is a conspiracy by the BJP.

Kharge said “I had said earlier also that people with faith can go today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow, but the BJP is asking only one question.  He said that this is a conspiracy of BJP and they are raising the same question again and again.

He said that the BJP has nothing to do with the temple, it just has to do with politics.

The then CM had also promised to give  46  acres of land to the Ram Mandir Trust for the construction of a grand Ram temple. Laxman Singh also said that the impact of rejection of the invitation will be seen in the Lok Sabha elections. “What is the point of refusing an invitation? What message are we giving? Rajivji had opened the lock, so who are you to refuse? If our leadership keeps such advisors in the party, then what can we say? “

Congress hits back at BJP over Somnath temple remark.

The Congress today hit back at BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi’s claims that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had opposed the then President Rajendra Prasad’s connection with the Somnath temple. The party said Nehru was “completely transparent”. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X that Sudhanshu Trivedi had waved some letters of Pandit Nehru at Somnath temple.

Seven decades ago, on May 11, 1951,  the Somnath temple was inaugurated in Gujarat,  in which the then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru flatly refused to participate. At the same time, the first President Dr. Rajendra Prasad attended the inauguration ceremony of Somnath temple, to which Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru objected and opposed his participation.

At that time, people also supported Nehru’s opposition and Nehru capitalized on it in the ensuing elections. Similarly, the Congress has just taken a decision and has refused to participate in the Ram temple pran pratishtha.

These and several other letters written by Nehru, including those written by Rajaji the then Home Minister, and Rajendra Prasad, are available in the public domain. Contrary to Trivedi’s claims, there is no major revelation from them. Nehru was completely transparent and left behind his written records. Along with this, Jayaram also shared those letters with his post.

In a letter written by Nehru on March 11, 1951,  the then Prime Minister had written to the then Home Minister.  “I wrote to him that there is no objection to his usual visit to this temple or any other temple or other places of worship,  but the inauguration of the temple on this special occasion will have a certain significance and some implication,” he told Rajagopalachari. So for my part, I would have loved it if he hadn’t engaged himself in that way.

Nehru also said, “Since the President is also eager to associate himself with this function,  I do not know whether it is proper for me to insist that he should not do so.” Therefore, according to your advice, I propose to tell him that he can exercise his discretion in this matter, although I still think it would be better for him not to go there.

What did BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi say?

BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi had said, “I want to quote for your easy cognizance that when the Somnath temple was being consecrated, Jawaharlal Nehru ji wrote on  24 April 1951  when Jam Saheb, who was then the head of Saurashtra, i.e. like technically the Chief Minister and when he invited him, what did Nehru write,  I want to tell you because the Congress has been following the same tradition.”

Trivedi said, He (Pandit Nehru) wrote that in this difficult time, I can’t come from Delhi for the ceremony. I want to make my views clear about this ceremony. I am deeply disturbed by this revivalism. It is very painful for me that as my President and some of my ministers and head of state you are associated with this ceremony of Somnath and I feel that this is not following the nature of my country and the results will not be good.

Jairam Ramesh lashes out at Sudhanshu Trivedi

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh hit back and wrote on X, “Sudhanshu Trivedi has tossed some letters of Pandit Nehru on Somnath temple in the air. These and several other letters of Nehru, including those of the then Home Minister Rajaji and President Rajendra Prasad,  are all in the public domain and are part of Volume 16-I of the second series of Jawaharlal Nehru’s Selected Works which is available online in http://nehruselectedworks.com¹“

“Contrary to Trivedi’s claim, this is not a big revelation. Nehru was completely transparent and left behind a scriptural record – written personally on his behalf. There is some correspondence here on the subject which Trivedi did not display,” he said.
