Opposition MPs have  accused BJP’s Pratap Simha of arranging passes for one of the accused, Sagar Sharma.

Parliament’s security was breached on Wednesday, December 13,  when  two  young men jumped inside the Lok Sabha and used colour smoke. They also raised slogans. Since then, opposition leaders have been targeting BJP  MP Pratap Simha. At least one of the suspects was allegedly issued a visitor’s pass from Pratap Simha’s quota.

Let us Know about Pratap Simha: Simha, 47, represents the Mysuru-Kodagu constituency in the Lok Sabha. He is a two-time MP, winning the seat in  2014 and 2019.He is known to support staunch pro-Hindutva views. He started his career as a journalist and worked for Vijaya Karnataka. He wrote columns attacking those supporting and criticising hardline Hindutva ideas.He wrote a book on Narendra Modi in  2008 when Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. This made him one of PM Modi’s early supporters in Karnataka.

Suspended BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali: Danish Ali posted pictures of the Parliament pass, purportedly of one of the accused youths. The pass was issued by Pratap Simha, BJP MP from Mysuru, Karnataka, in the name of Sagar Sharma. Danish Ali wrote on X (formerly Twitter),  “Giving a horrific reminder of the attack on Parliament on the same day (13 December) 21  years ago, a man jumped from the viewers’ gallery into the Lok Sabha MPs’ area.  The violation could have put the lives of MPs in danger. It has exposed the discrepancy in the 56-inch armour The person was a BJP MP’s guest.”

Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha: Speaking to the Press Trust of India, Chadha asked, “Which MP supported and gave his signature and let this person inside the Lok Sabha? Will there be an inquiry against the MP? Will an FIR be filed? Will the MP be arrested? Will this MP’s Lok Sabha membership be cancelled? This is an important matter. Was this MP aware of infiltration inside Parliament?”

The All India Trinamool Congress has demanded Simha’s expulsion from Parliament.
