‘The  1978  move against Vasantdada was not a rebellion’ Sharad Pawar’s response to Ajit Pawar’s remarks.

Ajit Pawar, who split the NCP and joined the Eknath Shinde government, had on Sunday taken a dig at Sharad Pawar, saying his stand was after crossing the age of 60 while some people had started on this path at the age of 38. He had claimed that Yashwantrao Chavan had opposed Sharad Pawar’s move.

NCP founder Sharad Pawar has responded to Ajit Pawar’s remarks.   Recalling his  1978 move against then Maharashtra chief minister Vasantdada Patil, he said it was not a rebellion but a consensual decision.

In 1978, Sharad Pawar separated from the government with  40 MLAs, leading to the fall of the Patil government.  On July  18 of that year, Sharad Pawar was sworn in as chief minister.

Ajit Pawar takes a dig at Sharad Pawar: He was the youngest person to hold this position at the age of 38. Ajit Pawar, who joined the Eknath Shinde government by splitting the NCP, had taken a dig at Sharad Pawar in Baramati on Sunday, saying that his stand is after crossing the age of 60, while some people had started on this path at the age of 38. He had claimed that Yashwantrao Chavan had opposed Sharad Pawar’s move as a leader like Vasantdada Patil was sidelined.

Ajit Pawar calls Vasantdada a good leader: Ajit Pawar had said that Vasantdada was a good leader, but he was sidelined. The experiment was done with the Janata Party. So it’s not like no one has taken the same step as I did. I took such a decision after crossing the age of 60, so everyone needs to understand my stance. Responding to this, Sharad Pawar said that there was no rebellion in our time. We used to sit and make decisions. So,  there was no question of such a rebellion. It was a mutual decision, so there was no question of anyone complaining.

When asked about the INDIA Alliance not having any prime ministerial face, Pawar said that even in the  1977 Lok Sabha elections, no one was projected as the prime ministerial face. After the Lok Sabha elections, Moraraji Desai was made the Prime Minister. If people are in the mood for change, they will take decisions to bring about a change.
