In the three states where the BJP has won this time, it did not present a face of any Chief Minister. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders campaigned extensively.

It may be an overstatement to call the assembly elections of 5 states semi-finals before the Lok Sabha elections 2024. However, it is no exaggeration that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has played a major role in the BJP’s victory in these elections. It is being called Modi Magic or Modi’s Sunami that the BJP snatched 2 states i.e. Rajasthan & Chhattisgarh from the Congress and retained Madhya Pradesh while defeating the anti-incumbency wave against Shivraj. Indeed, the electoral process in the country is a bit complicated on a regional and national basis. Voters often show different behaviour in assembly and general elections. For instance, in the 2015 assembly elections in Bihar, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) emerged as the single largest party and won 81 seats. However, in the Lok Sabha elections held in 2019, RJD could retain only one seat out of 40. 

Without putting forward any face of chief minister in the three states, the BJP has won the election with a big bang. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders like Amit Saha, J P Nadda  and others campaigned extensively. It is argued that in states where the saffron party does not have a strong leadership, it does not put forward the CM face. In Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, the BJP had big faces like Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Vasundhara Raje respectively. Moreover, the BJP had deployed several Union ministers in those states. Any of them could have been made the face of CM, but it was not done. The BJP focused on ‘Modi guarantee’ and ran a campaign about it. 

Now PM Modi is also being credited for BJP’s big victory in three states. Many BJP leaders have spoken on social media platforms about this. Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said, “This spectacular victory in Rajasthan is the victory of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas’. The guarantee they gave is a victory. This victory is the victory of the strategy of our Union Home Minister Amit Shah and this victory is the victory of the able leadership of our President JP Nadda. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, “For the BJP, the results in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan show faith in Modi’s Guarantee ”Only one guarantee in India – Modi’s guarantee’

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma clearly stated that only one guarantee works in India and that is Modi’s guarantee. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also credited PM Modi’s leadership for the BJP’s victory in the state. Modi some people were saying the party’s triple success was a guarantee of a hat-trick in the Lok Sabha polls. Addressing supporters at the BJP headquarters on Sunday evening, he said, “Today’s hat-trick has guaranteed a hat-trick of 2024. The election results have demonstrated support for our fight against corruption.
